Get out and vote, Eh!

Super Weekend has arrived. Just a reminder that all Liberals should do their best to get out and vote this weekend (even if they are not voting GK).

This is the first major step renewing our party, and a strong showing at the DSM's by all Liberals will show the Tories that we are on the road to renewal.

Good luck to all prospective Delegates.

Why I Endorse Gerard Kennedy

Originally, I started this blog back in June with a simple 1 line endorsement of Gerard Kennedy without really stating why I am in his camp. Now with just a couple months before the Convention, where I believe he will become the next Liberal Leader, I am going to put some reasoning behind my endorsement.

First off, Gerard is a person who brings about total Party renewal. He has no ties to the previous Leaders of the party, who are evidently still fighting to this day. There is no one better than Gerard to be the face of the 'Renewed' Liberal Party.

Gerard gets things done. He just doesn't sit around, hold press conferences all the time or explain ad nauseum how he can change things; he just goes out and does it. All of his professional and political life Gerard has been a results oriented person, and his track record for getting results speaks volumes about how driven the man truly is.

He is in my opinion, the only one in this race truly capable of beating Harper and the neo-cons in the next election, and the Tories know this. His appeal to all Canadians from coast to coast as Liberal Leader will be contagious as we will see a Leader who evokes a positive energy unlike one we have seen in a generation.

I am only one person with an opinion and my hope is that the rest of us Liberals out there have the courage to stand behind Gerard in his desire not only to make the Liberal Party stronger, but also our great Nation even stronger as well.

Volpe to Start Smear Campaign Against Iggy?

According to this news item from CTV, the much anticipated news conference Volpe is having today is not to withdraw from the race, but rather point the finger at Ignatieff for all the controversies surrounding his campaign. Oh, and while he is busy laying the blame elsewhere, he is going to blame the media as well (according to reports).

I can't imagine JV has any proof of any wrong doing by Iggy, and in my opinion if Iggy did want to go after someone, it sure as hell wouldn't be Volpe. Just when you thought Joe had sunk to a new low, he surprises us all and goes even lower.

Red Tory Blog Sinks to a New Low

I am all about debating differing ideas in a rational forum and for that matter I think we should all be, but this post titled The Kennedy Echo Chamber includes a photo shopped picture of Gerard Kennedy as Josef Stalin in front of Lenin. I think the most troublesome part of this is that RT is forgetting Kennedy's Ukrainian roots, and placing him as Stalin is even more despicable.

Last time I checked, GK has worked all his life trying to better humanity which is the opposite of 'Red Tory' would have you believe. You are a disgrace to all Liberals RT, shame on you.

Are We Seriously Considering...

This guy to lead the party?

Do people really think Ontarians will vote for Rae again after the damage he did to this province? No way, Ontario will surely vote Tory if Rae is Federal Liberal Leader.

This would be an even bigger disaster than John Turner.

Not Much To Report

The exchange between Rae and Iggy has been the highlight of this campaign so far, too bad it was Dion that got the ball rolling then had to watch from the sidelines.

Kennedy's closing remarks were passionate and on the mark, I sense he is about to make some waves as the serious alternative to Iggy.

BC Leadership Debate Today

Hopefully this debate has a little more punch to it than last weeks. I think we will see the candidates get after one another a little more since the Delegate application forms are now in, and thus they'll begin their fight for 2nd round votes.

I still expect to see at least 2 more candidates drop out within the next month, with Fry being the most obvious one.

Unveiled! The Worst Jerseys in the NHL

Not sure how the good folks in Buffalo screwed this up.

All the fans down there wanted, was a return to the originals that were worn prior to '96. Do sports teams owners ever listen?

How Soon We Forget

So Dr. Bennett finally took my advice and got the hell out of the race. Don't get me wrong, I think Carolyn is a fine lady, and a heck of a politician but nowhere near the top 4 in this race.

It was just last Sunday however, when Bennett took Rae to task over his handling of healthcare as Premier of Ontario... fast forward to today and there is Carolyn announcing she's leaving the race and will be standing behind Rae. I really don't get it.

As an Ontarian, I had a front row seat of The Bob Rae Show and the debacle he made of this province, having Rae as leader would be political suicide.

When Will We Learn?

I hope that we have learned that smear campaigns just don't work. DiNovo may have won this riding anyways, but the obvious smear campaign against her swayed the electorate much more in her favour.

After so many failed smear campaigns over the past 20 years, you would think people running the campaigns would get the point.

People are already a tad leery about Politicians and their motives, smear campaigns in the 21st century will only serve to do more harm against the people running them.

Lesson learned? Let's hope so.

Time For A Second Post, I Guess.

3 months in between posts is a good number, but with everything that is going to happen in the next while, I bet I could manage a post a month.

Herle's poll results have been released, and although I am going to take them with a grain of salt, I am slightly disappointed that Kennedy's numbers are not as strong as I had hoped.

It is clear that name recognition is the driving factor behind these numbers, because Dryden has been an absolute disaster since entering the race. I guess these polls should help "Mr. Excitement"!

As for Kennedy, he should look on the bright side of this poll that shows two-thirds of Canadians think pulling out of Afghanistan would be a key election item.
